Quarterly Luncheon/Regional Showcase -AOPA Foundation- Morty Lloyd

Morty Lloyd is a 2^nd generation aviator from Chattanooga, TN. His father, Mort Lloyd, was Chattanooga’s first television broadcaster in the late 1950s. In addition to broadcasting, he owned Executive Aviation, a Chattanooga based FBO (with 2 locations) offering flight training, maintenance, as well as being  the local Cessna dealer. His mother, Marilyn Lloyd, was the first woman to be elected to the US Congress from Tennessee. She served in that role for 20 years (1975-1995). Morty serves as the Director of Development for the AOPA Foundation and has done fundraising work for the last 35 years. His entry into fundraising started in the airshow industry, where he organized Airshow Chattanooga as a benefit for the local Erlanger Children’s Hospital. From there, he served as a Development Officer for Mission Aviation Fellowship (2012-2019) and Vice President of Development with Mission Eurasia (2019-2021). He’s been with AOPA for the last 4.5 years and loves his work. In addition to his role with AOPA, he also serves as the Mayor of Collegedale, TN. While having no political aspirations, he ran 4 years ago to stop another candidate from turning their airport into a subdivision. In his two terms as Mayor, he has been able to save and revitalize the airport through $800,000 in local funding, $5M in state funding, and $5M in private investment. He and his wife, Joyce, live in a small fly-in community at the Collegedale Airport. They have 3 grown children, 2 grandchildren, and a Cirrus SR22. In their free time, they enjoy flying their Cirrus and working with their local church.
